Since her childhood, Dr. Julia Bain has made a pledge to herself, her clients, friends, family and neighbors to always be proud of who you are, no matter how many times you may fall down.  Standing up for yourself has been her focus during her 35-year career as a professional clinical counselor, national certified counselor, and certified employee assistance professional. While working with people in group homes battling addiction and homelessness, providing comfort to psychiatric patients on a locked ward, giving meaning to life for those who are profoundly developmentally delayed, deaf and blind, severe mental illness, and City of Albuquerque employees and their families, she has been honored to watch the growth that results from the struggle, whatever that may be.  Whether singing on her guitar in group therapy or merely bursting into song during training,  Dr. Bain has always used music as a way to connect with others and promote healing.  A 26 year career in broadcasting her own television program, Mind, Body, Spirit on the City of Albuquerque Government Channel,  she interviewed over 100 professionals in the community including Mayor Richard Berry, informing most of her guests not to be surprised if she began to sing a few relevant lines during the interview.  Julia was interviewed by the District Attorney on KKOB radio as a featured guest discussing a variety of issues impacting relationships.  Considered an expert in workplace violence and its impact on employees, she was interviewed by Mary Baca, LA Talk Radio, an expert working with PTSD and first responders.  As a result of her doctoral dissertation, Collection and Analysis of Baseline Epidemiological Data Among City of Albuquerque Workforce, 1997, she subsequently went on to write the City of Albuquerque’s Violence Prevention and Domestic Violence Policies.  Dr. Bain has been published and quoted in a variety of periodicals, including the May 2015 issue of the Employee Assistance Report, in the article she titled, “Not Here!  Employees Need Help to Confront Bullies.” She was also published in American Psychiatric Association Foundation July 18,2016, Newsletter, “How to Be an Effective Supervisor- Use Your EAP.” An exuberant presenter and motivational speaker, Dr. Bain has presented at the EAPA World conference, NM statewide Ombudsman Volunteer Training, Mesilla Valley Hospital and countless other venues and events.  Dr. Bain’s professional achievements include President of the local EAPA chapter in NM, sitting on a variety of Committees and Boards for agencies serving domestic violence survivors, as well as agencies serving those with addiction.  Currently, Dr. Bain is the co-owner of Me Town Enterprises, LLC, serving as a Mi Via Consultant for the Developmental Disabilities Self-Directed Waiver Program, Supports Waiver for the great State of NM, Support Broker for Blue Cross Blue Shield and Western Sky Members, NM Medicaid Self Directed Community Benefit Program.  Dr. Bain is a professional trainer, keynote speaker, and consults with organizations on a variety of topics, always emphasizing empowerment and the importance of self-regulation and responsibility one has to self, others and community to enjoy life, work hard, and facilitate good will and humor.  Dr. Julia Bain resides in Santa Fe with her family, and loves being the best Sheriff during each moment, enjoying her You Tube Channel, and celebrates her commitment to be the most loving spouse on the planet.
